Summer Backgrounds Inspired by Summer Treats!

Hello! I am so excited to bring you this post. I’ve been working on some BRIGHT, FUN Summer backgrounds that you will need sunglasses for! Lol. I have 3 backgrounds to share with you and then we are going to turn them into cards!

I have a video linked below and you can win PRIZES! These backgrounds were inspired by my favorite summer treats : a 50/50 bar (orange popsicle with vanilla ice cream inside), Pink Lemonade, and a Rainbow Snowcone. Can you guess which one belongs to which background?

Here’s a look at the cards:

Bright Summer Backgrounds are so vibrant!

Now, you may not be able to tell by this picture, but each of those backgrounds also has a glittery element to it. And they are THREE different techniques. So be sure to check out the video below or on YouTube:

I had a lot of fun creating these three bright cards for you. Also, you should know I’m a part of Jess and Laura’s Hooray for 3K YouTube hop and you can comment to win PRIZES! So be sure to head over to YouTube to comment and get all the details on how to win.

Rainbow Happy Birthday

I’m so excited for the upcoming Online Card Classes: Rainbow Maker. So I couldn’t resist to make a few rainbow cards to get ready.

I used a few stamp sets from Mama Elephant and a die from My Favorite Things. Here the second card:

And, of course I couldn’t stop there. So I made another with blue:

Hugs & Kisses

I cannot stop making Valentine’s cards! I have one to share today featuring Mama Elephant Stamps.

hugs-and-kisses-1-17

This card started out with stamping all the XOXOs with the Misti, so I could get them all lined up. Then I watercolored that cute cat, and white heat embossed the sentiment on black cardstock.

And that’s where it stopped! I literally had this card sitting on my desk for days because I couldn’t figure out how to finish it.

Then, today I found some soft pink glitter paper…and it all came together! I used the glitter paper for the frame and the hearts. I love it. It’s a perfect Valentine card with red and pink and glitter and hugs.

Hope you like it!

Flowers Everywhere

If you asked me a favorite place to be in all the places you could ever be….I would say in a field of flowers. I feel so peaceful with flowers all around. In fact, a favorite place to visit is the Flower Fields in California (in April or May). It it just amazing!! (Read my post about it here).

So it seemed perfectly natural to build a card around that idea. Have you ever thought of throwing flowers as a sort of celebration? Well, it sounds like fun, and that’s just what these little cuties are doing:

See all the flowers in the background? The sky is just filled with flowers! I was going for an Ombre look with my watercolored sky, but it didn’t turn out exactly as I imagined. That’s the beauty of watercoloring….it’s completely unpredictable!

I white embossed those flowers first onto watercolor paper, then applied the color. I also watercolored those gals (from Mama Elephant “In My Heart”) and I think they turned out so cute!

For the “happy,” I first watercolored some paper with greens, yellow and blues, then cut out the word. As you can see, I didn’t get much of the blues in there, but I like the variation of greens and yellows here…it kinda goes with the grassy hill. 🙂

I think this little scene would also go well with the sentiment from “Up and Away” that says: Spread Happiness Wherever you go. I just might add that to the inside of the card.

Hey, Sexy Lady

Ok, so who wouldn’t love to get this as a birthday card? This Mama Elephant sentiment just cracks me up and I KNEW I had to use it along with one of their adorable panda bears.

That is one cute dancing panda! I just can’t even stop grinning.

I’m just loving their products right now…I put together this little card using their die cut Femme Frames. A little watercolored background (I love how those splotches form!) and watercolored umbrella make it look so soft and sweet.

Wouldn’t you get a giant smile on your face if you got this card in the mail? 😉
