Make Your Own Sunshine

I’m a big fan of bright colors and sunshiney days! And this new challenge from Ellen Hutson here reminded me of that.

I had a great time inking up the background with bright Distress Inks (picked raspberry, peeled paint, and scattered straw). Then I used Zig Clean Color Real Brush markers to watercolor up that bear and his lemonade.

Can you just see that bear hula dancing away as he sips on his lemonade? It’s a great day!

Water Stencil Technique

I cannot stop making rainbow cards! Today I thought I’d try another technique stamping with water to “Bleach” the background a little.

I’m using the Ellen Hutson Bold Blooms set and the Avery Elle Fill-In-the-Blanks set (a few of my favorites!) Here’s how it turned out:

Doesn’t that look cool how the water just sort of wicks away that color?!? Here I used Distress Inks on watercolor paper. It’s a neat technique and you can try it with a stencil OR a stamp! This card is for a friend that just landed a new job. I think this card is great for that celebration.

You are Totally Fabulous

The Ellen Hutson January Pinsights challenge (here) inspired me to make this card.

I loved the black and gold and turquoise colors from the inspiration board and it translated into this card:

totally-fabulous

I first die cut the sentiment out of gold glitter paper. Then I adhered that to a black strip of paper. I stamped the flowers and leaves in black pigment ink, and heat embossed with clear embossing powder. Then I used Peacock Feathers distress ink on the top portion of the card.

I hope you like it!

You are Fabulous

Yes, I think you’re fabulous. And I also thing card-making is fabulous. Put the two together and you have a whole lot of fabulous-ness!

Today, my card is inspired by the Ellen Hutson August Pin-Sights Challenge

fabulous

I combined watercolored stamping, a beautiful die, glitter paper, and Nuvo drops to create this Fabulous card.

I think I’ll give this technique another try soon!

Essentials by Ellen Mix it Up Challenge!

Today I’m participating in the Essentials by Ellen Mix it up Challenge for August with Winnie & Walter!

This card was a challenge for me. I used my Akayashi Sai watercolor markers and blended 3 colors together on the beautiful Hydrangea by Ellen Hutson. I love how it turned out, but it took me four days to finish!

with-markers  I had a vision to cut the right side of the card off and have some beautiful writing on the side. I ended up using my script background stamp, embossing in white, and inking on distress inks over the top. I’m not sure how well you can see the writing in the picture, but it turned out nice.

love-you

I added some inking around the edges of the white panel, and of course added shimmer to the flowers. The middles of the flowers are Stickles. In real life, this card has some beautiful shimmer and glitter!

I used my (only) Winnie & Walter stamp set…and embossed in white on black cardstock. Then I fussy cut that sentiment out. I originally thought I would cut out the black part in the “y” but it didn’t look right, so I left that part in.

Can you see the glittery goodness on this?

I love how it turned out! 🙂 This has to go to a special someone since I spent a lot of time on it!

Hope you enjoy.
