A study in Alligators and Distress Marker Practice

These Distress Markers are amazing and I’ve been learning some new techniques using water with them. I started out with a butterfly and three different colors:

Then I graduated up to an Alligator from Paper Smooches! I’ve been excited to ink this guy up. And what started as a Study in Alligators practice sheet, turned into a card for the current Paper Smooches Challenge:

I tried out lots of colors on these guys. I’ll list them below if you are interested. It was super fun to apply a bit of marker in each color, then blend them out using just a bit of water and a brush. Sweet! I know I’m gonna have so much fun with these.

I ended up adding a strip of color on the inside of the card below the curved edge (to match the paper I used to matte the alligator study).

These. Gators. Are. Awesome!

Be Strong and Hope

I made a special card this week for a friend who learned her mom has Stage 4 cancer and only weeks to live. It is crazy how your life can change in so short a time. And my heart is just breaking for her.

Benny-Saurus

Today we celebrated my nephew’s first birthday. We found a giant dinosaur stuffed animal for him and I just HAD to make a tag to match. Of course, I pulled out my Cuteasaurus stamp set from Paper Smooches (one of my favorites!)

The snail and tree stump is from Forest Whimsy and balloons are from Sunny Side Up (I drew in the strings).

I attached him with twine. And do you think it was a hit?!

Let’s just say, after Benny saw Benny-saurus he didn’t even care to open any of his other presents! I love it!!

I hope you enjoyed this project. I’m entering this tag into the Paper Smooches Anything Goes challenge (last minute)!

Hello glitter

I don’t like glitter. Really. I love how it looks, but I hate the mess! So I found some great replacements that I’m loving right now: glitter paper and glitter tape! I couldn’t resist this extra whale I had sitting around for practice, so I turned it into a quick card.

It’s kinda fun to use the bits and pieces I have laying around on my crafting table. That glitter hello has been begging me to use it on a card for about 2 weeks now! The “waves” are soft and muted and I used a scrap piece that I had die cut a scallop from to ink them on with a blending tool.

In this picture you can see the shiny bubbles better: (excuse the shadows)

It turned into a favorite card of mine! So you see, you can never tell what those scraps and practice pages might turn into for you!

Where would I be?

Hello again! I have another fun card to share today using a new die from Lawn Fawn, their speech bubble die. This is such a neat die to use because the speech bubble is large enough to cover the top of a card front. I love it!

That little owl is one of my favorites from Paper Smooches. I embossed the tree using a super chunky copper/gold embossing powder. I love the way it looks for the tree trunk. I also embossed a cute heart to match.

Here you can see the embossing a bit better. (Excuse the glare from the light). I used this card for Father’s Day this year. Perfect, right?
